Left photo shows Monica Abello (far right) in 1970, with family and friends, wearing a short skirt similar to what she wore as a change girl in Tahoe. In the photo at right, Monica (front row at far left) was in social work school at Centro Escolar University, where the dresses were "7 inches below the knee".
In the photo below, Monica is standing in front of her first house, that she bought in 1972. In front of her are her son, Gerrymon, who was 7, and her daughter, Genevieve, who was 5 1/2. Behind Monica is Cenon Abello, Monica's first cousin who came to the U.S. in the 1920s; and at the top of the steps is a nephew of Monica's.
